A smoke report is a structured review of finished flower: appearance, aroma intact and ground, taste on the first and later draws, smoothness, ash and burn, and reported effects, plus the cure time and storage.
In practice
A good report gives context so others can learn from it: cultivar and batch, how long it dried and at what temperature and RH, cure length, jar moisture checks, and how long after harvest it was smoked. "Dried 10 days at about 15-18 °C (60-65 °F) and 58-62% RH, cured 6 weeks, smooth, sharp pine and lemon on the grind, grey-white ash" is useful. "Fire" is not.
For comparisons, blind tasting beats open tasting: people rate what they expect. GenetixBay's Bay Trials use blind panels for questions like hydro vs living soil taste.
Don't confuse with
- Lab report (COA): measured chemistry. A smoke report is human perception; both are useful, neither replaces the other.
- Effects claims: a smoke report records reported effects, not promised ones.
Relative humidity is the water vapour in air as a percentage of what it could hold at that temperature, so the same RH dries plants differently at different temperatures.Holding dried cannabis in sealed containers so its moisture declines slowly and evenly over weeks, improving smoothness and aroma.Bay Trials are GenetixBay's member-run controlled grow experiments that test growing claims side by side and publish the results openly.Living soil is an organic growing medium managed to sustain an active soil food web, so microbes and invertebrates release nutrients and the soil is reused across cycles.A COA (certificate of analysis) is a lab's signed report of what it measured in a specific sample, such as cannabinoids, terpenes, moisture and contaminants, with methods and limits.A grow journal is a dated record of a grow, with photos, environment, feeding, problems and results, used to learn, share and prove what happened.A cannabis connoisseur judges flower and hash on aroma, flavour, cure, smoke and genetics history rather than THC percentage or looks.Terps is slang for terpenes, and loosely for a cannabis cultivar's whole aroma and flavour, even though many aroma compounds are not terpenes.
