GenetixBayEST. 2009
Fund the Bay · Community funded, not investor funded

Built by the people who grow.

In 2009 GenetixBay was one of the first places growers traded genetics directly with each other. We kept the records. Now we're bringing the Bay back as a permanent archive for every line, with a grow journal that fills itself in.

Then there's Jardin, the grow system that mixes nutrients, watches the roots and runs the room. We'd rather the community own this than chase investors who don't grow. Every pledge goes into the build, and stretch goals show exactly what each milestone pays for.

Puff, puff, pass it on. That's how we built it the first time.

The story · 2009 to 4/20

The Bay was built by its members. It still is.

No venture round decides what we build. You do, one milestone at a time, in public.

2009

The exchange

One of the first peer-to-peer seed exchanges. Growers traded genetics directly and kept honest notes on how each line grew. Those records outlived the forum, and we still have them.

2016–2020

The beta years

Alpha and beta versions, rough around the edges. A bit sloppy, but we learned a lot on all fronts: community, trust, trading, tech, and what growers really need.

2023–2026

The rebuild

Years of hardware testing and real grows, an 18-pump dosing rig and a stage-by-stage recipe we trust. Then a permanent ID for every seed, lineage with the evidence shown, and a journal that fills itself in. Built in the open, with lab notes every step.

Stretch goals · open goal, flexible funding

Every milestone pays for something real.

There's no all-or-nothing target. The build goes ahead at any amount, and each goal unlocks the next piece. Totals count reservations, so they update the moment you pledge.

Rewards · limited tiers show what's left

Pick how you back the Bay.

Prices in US dollars. You can pledge more than any tier's price; the extra goes straight into the stretch goals.

    Reserve · takes a minute

Reserve now. Pay later, only if you still want it.

When checkout opens we'll email you a link to confirm your reward and pay. If you don't confirm, nothing happens and your reservation lapses.

    Questions

The fine print, in plain words.

    How will charging work?

Right now a pledge is a reservation. We don't take card details and nothing is charged. When checkout opens we'll email every backer a personal link with their reward and amount. You confirm and pay there, or change your mind. Unconfirmed reservations simply lapse.

For the Founder's Edition Jardin, checkout takes the US$99 deposit. The balance of the US$849 price is charged about 30 days before your ship window, and we email you 14 days before that so you can opt out.

    Can I get a refund?

Yes. Until checkout opens there's nothing to refund; use the cancel link in your confirmation email. After checkout, Founder's Edition deposits are fully refundable until your kit ships. Membership and merch pledges are refundable until the reward is delivered or activated.

    When will rewards ship?

Each tier shows its ship window. We follow the FTC Mail, Internet or Telephone Order Rule: if we can't ship in the window we promised, we'll tell you before it passes, give you a new date, and you can cancel for a full refund. If we have no window at all, we'll ship within 30 days of charging you or refund you.

Memberships activate at launch on 20 April 2027. Founding Members get closed-beta access before that.

    What does "open goal" mean?

It's flexible funding, not all-or-nothing. There's no single target that cancels the project if we miss it. The build continues at any amount, and the stretch goals show what each extra milestone pays for, in order. The meter counts reservations, which is why it can say exactly where we stand.

Why isn't this on Kickstarter or Indiegogo?

Both platforms ban projects connected to cannabis, even hardware and software for legal home growers. So we built our own page. It also means no platform fee comes off the top.

Who can back, and from where?

You must be of legal age where you live: 21+ in the US; 18+ in Alberta, 21+ in Quebec and 19+ in the rest of Canada. Anyone can be a Supporter or pick merch. The Founder's Edition Jardin and Breeder Founding Partner tiers are for the US and Canada only, and software features follow the law in your state or province.

GenetixBay doesn't sell cannabis or seeds. Rewards are memberships, merch and grow hardware.

    Is my email shown anywhere?

Never. The public totals only show amounts, counts and the display name you chose, or "Anonymous".
