GenetixBayEST. 2009
The original genetics community · Since 2009

The Bay is coming back.

In 2009 we opened one of the first places where growers traded genetics directly with each other. We kept the records. Now we're rebuilding GenetixBay as the permanent home for genetics and their history, with tools that do the tedious parts of growing for you.

A permanent record for every seed

Who bred it, where it came from, how it actually grows. IDs that never change, with the evidence shown on every link.

A grow journal that fills itself in

Photos, readings and feed charts in one timeline. Private by default, shareable when you want.

A grow system that runs the room

Aeroponic and deep-water-culture control that mixes nutrients, watches the roots, and adjusts when you tell it what you see.

Took you long enough. Pull up a chair, I kept the records.

Meet Jardin · concept renders

From a messy breadboard to this.

Jardin mixes nutrients by weight, mists or feeds the roots, and keeps going when the Wi-Fi doesn't. Today it's a breadboard on our bench. These renders are where it's heading, and details will change as we build.

Blueprint sketch of today's bench rig: breadboard, controller node, hub, dosing pump and probes in a jar

Drag the handle: the breadboard rig on our bench today, and the kit it's becoming. The render is a concept, not a product photo.

Cutaway of the root chamber: roots hanging in fine mist above a shallow pool on the floor
Inside the chamberRoots hang in a fine mist. That pool on the floor is the lifeboat: if misting ever fails, a backup pump keeps the roots wet.
The dosing bay: four peristaltic pumps above labelled stock bottles standing on a scale plate
The dosing bayPumps above stock bottles that stand on their own scale. Every dose is checked in grams, not guessed from pump seconds.

Inside Jardin · how it works

Weighs every drop. Mists every root.

Fourteen ways to grow on one brain, dosing by the element with a scale under every jug, a mix station that feeds a whole room, and fail-safes that keep the roots wet when the power or the Wi-Fi drops. Try the dosing demo and watch a batch mix.

What you'll get · at launch and after

Everything your grow remembers.

The archive, the journal and the Professor open at launch. Courses, certification and contests grow from there.

Permanent GB-IDs

Every line, batch, plant and harvest gets an ID that never changes. Lineage links show their evidence: breeder's word, community reports or a lab test.

GB-GEN-0042000-1

Journals that fill themselves in

Photos, readings, feed charts and harvests on one timeline. Connect Jardin and the entries write themselves. Private by default.

Professor Greenleaf

Your grow buddy with tenure. Tell him what you see, he checks your readings and suggests one small change. You approve or skip.

Breeder courses and certification

Learn to stabilise and document a line properly, then earn a certification that shows on the records of what you release.

Contests

Grow-offs and harvest challenges judged on logged grows, not just glamour shots. Bragging rights, now with receipts.

The community

The original genetics crowd, back together with everyone who's joined since. Founding Members get a permanent badge.

Something wrong with your plant? Answer a few quick questions and get the likely cause, how to confirm it and the fix. 142 symptoms covered, and nothing you type leaves your browser.

The knowledge library

191 articles where every claim shows its source, a 759-term glossary, and Mythbusters for the grow advice that refuses to die.

A word from the Professor

I've read every grow log since 2009. Number one cause of death? “I'll just give it a little more water.”

Jardin weighs every drop, so I can finally retire that lecture. Mostly.

The Academy · opening this winter

Real plant science, in plain words.

Short animated lessons that start simple enough for anyone and go as deep as a university course. Every claim is cited. Our first lesson is on VPD: how a leaf breathes, and why the air in your room matters.

Our story · 2009 to 4/20

Old roots. New growth.

The short version, warts and all. We've done this before, and we've made most of the mistakes already.

  1. The exchange opens

GenetixBay opens one of the first peer-to-peer seed exchanges. Growers trade genetics directly and keep honest notes on how each line grows.

  2. The beta years

Alpha and beta versions, rough around the edges. We learned a lot about community, trust, trading, tech and what growers really need.

“A bit sloppy, but we learned a lot on all fronts.”

  3. The rebuild

Years of hardware testing and real grows behind the scenes: an 18-pump dosing rig, a stage-by-stage nutrient recipe that grew some of our best ever, and the archive, the journal and Jardin built properly this time. Now in public, with lab notes every step.

  4. Full launch Target

The community, the archive and the journal open to everyone. Founding Members get in first.

What's coming · fall 2026 to 2029

  5. Late 2027 to 2028Later

Questions · the short answers

Before you ask.

Something else on your mind? Email hello@genetixbay.com. A human reads every one.

Is it legal where I live?

It depends on your state or province, and we take that seriously. GenetixBay doesn't sell cannabis or seeds. You need to be of legal age where you live (21+ in the US; 18 or 19+ in Canada depending on province, 21+ in Quebec), and features follow the law where you are, so some may be switched off in your region.

Jardin is grow hardware: it's just as happy running tomatoes, lettuce or herbs. Please check your local rules before you grow anything.

What's Jardin?

Our grow system. It mixes nutrients by weight, runs high-pressure aeroponics, deep water culture, drip and more, and keeps misting even when the Wi-Fi drops. It fits the tent you already own.

Right now it's a breadboard and bench firmware that hasn't met real hardware yet. Follow the build in the lab notes.

When does it launch?

The full launch target is 20 April 2027 for the community, the archive and the journal. Founding Members get in earlier through the alpha and beta. Jardin follows with beta tents in 2027, then kits. Dates are targets; if one moves, we'll say so here and in the lab notes.

Is my data private?

Yes, by default. Journals are private until you choose to share them, and photo location data is stripped. Your waitlist email and answers live on our own server, and we don't sell or share them. Jardin runs locally, so misting and safety never depend on the internet.

What's the catch?

Honestly? We're early. Jardin is a breadboard today, dates are targets, and we're building in public, mistakes included. We ran rough betas once already, from 2016 to 2020, and learned plenty, so this time we're doing it properly.

The waitlist is free and you can unsubscribe any time. If you'd like to help us move faster, you can Fund the Bay; nothing is charged until checkout opens.
