How it works · the record, the journal, the Professor

Know what you're growing.

GenetixBay keeps the record on every seed: who bred it, where it came from, and how it actually grows. A genetics archive with permanent IDs, a grow journal that fills itself in, a community with real breeder tools, and a grow system that runs the room for you.

The idea

One loop that gets smarter with every harvest.

Grow diaries document grows. Seed sites sell seeds. Strain databases list names. Nobody connects them, so the most valuable data in cannabis, what a specific genetic line actually does in a real room, is lost every harvest.

On GenetixBay every seed, grow, harvest and offspring gets a permanent identity, and every grow writes back to the record it came from. Connected Jardin systems log their grows automatically. Each strain record slowly turns into a tested recipe that the next grower can run.

The community brings people in. The journal keeps them. The records give them a reason to contribute. Jardin fills the database on its own.

The GenetixBay loop: genetics records feed grows, grows produce data, data powers recipes and knowledge, knowledge drives the community and breeders, who register new genetics. GB-ID The genetic record GeneticsArchive GrowJournal + Core DataRecipes KnowledgeGreenleaf Community+ Breeders
GB-ID · permanent records

Every seed gets a name it keeps forever.

Genetic lines, batches, individual plants, grows and harvests each get a permanent ID with a check character, linked to their parents and offspring. Every link shows how strong its evidence is.

A verified breeder account is not verified genetics. Both are shown, separately, on every record.

IDs are never recycled or reassigned. Corrections are new events on an append-only log; the old version stays visible. Records recovered from the 2009 exchange get the reserved block GB-GEN-0000001 to 0000999.
A record's life · pack to offspring

From a QR on the pack to the next generation.

Each step mints or links an ID automatically. Nothing is retyped, and every grow adds evidence to the genetic record it came from.

  1. GB-BATScan the pack

The breeder's batch QR carries a one-time code. First scan binds it to your account, which is how breeders spot counterfeit packs.

  2. GB-INDGerminate

Each seed you pop becomes an individual plant ID, inheriting breeder, parentage and the community recipe.

  3. GB-GRWGrow

Your journal pins one recipe version. Manual entries and Jardin's automatic entries land in the same timeline.

  4. GB-HRVHarvest

Wet and dry weight, flower days, cure log, a quality score, a lab report if you have one. This is the outcome the recipes learn from.

  5. GB-LINBreed

Cross a keeper and the offspring get their own GB-GEN records, linked to both parents at the evidence level you can prove.

Grow journal · photos first

Photos first, readings underneath.

Every grow is a GB-GRW workspace tied to its source batch. Entries from a connected Jardin arrive by themselves, marked in gold, so manual and automated growers build the same kind of record.

Journal in depth · day-one features

Everything a grower expects on day one, and a few things they don't.

Built for one-thumb logging in a basement with no signal, then turned into data the whole community benefits from.

Quick-log buttons

"Watered 2 L", "pH 6.1", "Flipped to 12/12" in one tap.

Offline capture

Photos and entries queue on the phone and sync later.

Multi-plant journals

One tent, several plants, each with its own ID and photos. Built for pheno hunts.

Feed charts

Pick a nutrient line, get the schedule in EC and both ppm scales, log a feed in one tap.

Templates by method

HPA, DWC, coco, soil, autoflower outdoor: the fields that matter for each.

Harvest and cure

Dry-room readings, jar humidity, and a "ready" date.

Reminders

Water, feed, flip, calibrate the probe, check trichomes.

Units your way

°F or °C, gallons or litres, ppm 500 or 700, mS/cm.

Side-by-side photos

Same angle, different days, with a slider.

Time-lapse

Daily shots rendered to video with readings overlaid and the lineage as an end card.

Recipe diff

Your grow against the recipe median, with Greenleaf's read on the gaps.

Weekly digest

One email: what went well, what drifted, at most one suggestion.

Community and breeder tools

Reasons to come back when you aren't buying anything.

Reputation is earned by documenting well and helping others, never bought. A verified breeder account is shown separately from community status.

Grow-along cohorts

Hundreds of growers start the same genetic the same week, with a weekly live session.

Mentor matching

Experienced growers paired with first-timers; mentoring counts toward reputation.

Breeder AMAs and drop calendar

Scheduled Q&As and release dates give the feed a heartbeat.

Preservation list

Flag near-lost lines; holders can register private seed stock.

Clone registry

Who held a cut and when. Information only, never a sale.

Breeder console

Claim records, mint batches, print QR codes, see how your lines grow out.

Private line vault

Unreleased lines, timestamped for priority, revealed when you choose.

Tester programme

Post a test round; testers' journals link to the batch automatically.

Grow Wrapped

A year-in-review card every December.

Jardin · HPA and DWC

A room that knows the strain it's growing.

Our own grow system. It mixes nutrients from concentrates by weight, runs high-pressure aeroponic misting or deep water culture, controls climate and light, watches roots and canopy on camera, and adjusts to what you tell it.

Every second · on the device

Keep everything in range

Misting pressure and cycles, pH, EC, water temperature, climate. Hard limits live in firmware and the room keeps running offline.

Every day · the strain recipe

Follow the plan

Per-day targets for light, VPD, EC curve and mist timing, learned from every connected grow of that genetic.

Every photo or note · Greenleaf

Listen and adjust

Photos and your typed feedback become small, bounded changes to the recipe. Big changes wait for your approval.

Professor Greenleaf · grow buddy with tenure

He's seen everything. He'll still explain it twice.

Greenleaf knows which record, journal or device you're on, shows where every answer comes from, and says plainly when something is unverified or unknown.

Welcome back. Day 23 of flower and the roots look good. What are we looking into?

Scripted demo of tone and sourcing.

Professor Greenleaf lighting up, then settling back with a slow toke

Been here since 2009. I kept notes. Ask me anything twice.

His voice

Dry, specific, kind. He cites. He says "I don't know." No stoner jokes, no medical or legal advice, and alarms are all business.

"Your EC has crept from 1.62 to 1.82 over six days. I'd pull it back.""There may be an issue with your nutrient levels."
"That's the breeder's word, and it's shown as such.""This is a verified cross."
"Leak sensor tripped. Pumps are off. Check under the reservoir now.""Uh oh, little puddle situation!"
"I don't know. Nobody's logged that yet. Log it and I will."A confident guess with no source.
Our story · 2009 to 4/20

Old roots. New growth.

The short version, warts and all. We've done this before, and we've made most of the mistakes already.

  1. The exchange opens

GenetixBay opens one of the first peer-to-peer seed exchanges. Growers trade genetics directly and keep honest notes on how each line grows.

  2. The beta years

Alpha and beta versions, rough around the edges. We learned a lot about community, trust, trading, tech and what growers really need.

“A bit sloppy, but we learned a lot on all fronts.”

  3. The rebuild

Years of hardware testing and real grows behind the scenes: an 18-pump dosing rig, a stage-by-stage nutrient recipe that grew some of our best ever, and the archive, the journal and Jardin built properly this time. Now in public, with lab notes every step.

  4. Full launch Target

The community, the archive and the journal open to everyone. Founding Members get in first.

The roadmap · fall 2026 to 2029

Watch the vine grow, phase by phase.

The public roadmap shows what's growing now, what's next and what's done. Dates are targets and may move as we build in public.

Founding Members · first in line

Founding Members get first access, a permanent badge and the lowest numbers in the archive. Every friend you bring moves you up the list.
