Pearls are the points system on GenetixBay. They reward the work that keeps genetics alive and knowledge honest, and they come in two kinds that are kept strictly apart.
In practice
Wild Pearls are earned by doing: documented grow journals, keeper nominations, males registered in the Stud Book, preservation of lost lines, joining trials, reviews after a completed swap. Cultured Pearls are purchased store credit for the GenetixBay store. Every Pearl movement is recorded in a ledger, so balances can be audited.
Pearls never reward a yield or potency number by itself; documentation does. Where cannabis seed is concerned, Pearl use follows the law in each region, and a seed pack is never priced in or paid with Cultured Pearls.
Don't confuse with
- Money: Pearls have no cash value and cannot be cashed out.
- Reputation: a separate measure of standing; Pearls are spendable, reputation is not.
The Stud Book is GenetixBay's showcase of documented male plants, with selection journals, keeper details and sire credits; males are encouraged and rewarded. The dry, single-seeded fruit of cannabis that growers call a seed; a hard shell (pericarp plus seed coat) encloses one embryo and does not split open.Wild Pearls are GenetixBay points earned by contributing, such as journals, males, preservation and trials; they can move between members but have no cash value.Cultured Pearls are GenetixBay Pearls bought with money, usable only as store credit in the GenetixBay store; they never transfer between members. The Swap is GenetixBay's pseudonymous, escrowed member-to-member exchange, reviving the Bay's 2009 peer-to-peer roots, running only in the modes local law allows.A grow journal is a dated record of a grow, with photos, environment, feeding, problems and results, used to learn, share and prove what happened.
