Jardin is the grow system GenetixBay is developing: a hub with climate sensors, camera and plug-in modules that logs a grow, controls the environment and, in its dosing form, mixes nutrients element by element instead of from a fixed bottled ratio. It is in development, not a shipping product.
In practice
The headline idea is per-element custom dosing. A bottled two-part nutrient fixes the ratio between nitrogen, phosphorus, potassium and everything else, so cutting nitrogen in late flower means cutting the rest too. Dosing from separate element stocks lets a grower follow the GenetixBay approach: taper nitrogen toward zero near the finish while keeping P, K, Ca, Mg, S and the micronutrients fed, instead of flushing. Jardin keeps a running estimate of each element in the reservoir from what it dosed, what the plants drank and what drained, and a lab test resets that estimate.
On the climate side it handles light dimming with sunrise and sunset ramps and VPD-driven fan control, and everything is logged to the grower's journal with who or what made each change.
Don't confuse with
- Professor Greenleaf: the knowledge assistant, which can read Jardin's data but is a separate thing.
- A nutrient brand: Jardin doses from whatever element stocks the grower uses.
Per-element dosing builds a feed from individual salts or single-element stocks so each nutrient can be set independently, such as cutting nitrogen without cutting potassium. An A/B nutrient is a mineral feed split into two concentrates so that calcium (part A) is kept apart from sulfate and phosphate (part B), which would precipitate together.Gradually cutting nitrogen in late flower, toward zero near the finish, while still feeding phosphorus, potassium, calcium, magnesium, sulfur and micronutrients; GenetixBay's alternative to flushing.A micronutrient is an essential element plants need only in trace amounts, below a few mg/L: iron, manganese, zinc, copper, boron, molybdenum, chlorine and nickel.Feeding only plain water for days or weeks before harvest to "clean" the plant; GenetixBay rates it a Myth that harms yield, unlike a root-zone salt flush.Vapour pressure deficit: how much more water vapour the air could hold at its temperature, in kPa; it is the main environmental driver of transpiration.A grow journal is a dated record of a grow, with photos, environment, feeding, problems and results, used to learn, share and prove what happened.Professor Greenleaf is GenetixBay's character and botanical knowledge assistant, who answers growing and breeding questions from the cited knowledge base and the grower's own records.
