What a reservation is
When you pledge, you reserve a reward at the price shown. No card details are taken and nothing is charged. We store your reservation and email you a confirmation with a link to cancel. You can cancel at any time before checkout with that link, or by emailing hello@genetixbay.com.
One reservation per reward per email address. You can pledge more than a tier's price; the extra goes into the stretch goals. Pledges above US$25,000 (CA$34,000 on genetixbay.ca) are arranged by email.
Fund the Bay is run by [ENTITY NAME]. It isn't a crowdfunding platform, a charity or an investment. Pledges aren't donations, aren't tax-deductible, and don't buy shares, interest, profit or any financial return.
How charging will work
When checkout opens, we email every backer a personal link with their reward and amount. You confirm and pay there, or change your mind. If you don't confirm, nothing happens and your reservation lapses.
Founder's Edition Jardin. Checkout takes the US$99 deposit. The balance of the US$979 Founders price is charged about 30 days before your ship window, and we email you 14 days before that so you can opt out.
Other hardware reservations work the same way: the tier shows the refundable deposit and the price it goes toward, and checkout shows when the balance is charged. [OWNER: confirm the balance timing for every hardware tier matches the Founder's Edition.]
Taxes, shipping and any import duties will be shown at checkout before you pay. [OWNER/COUNSEL: whether reward prices include sales tax, GST/HST/QST and shipping, and who pays cross-border duties.]
Refunds
- Before checkout there's nothing to refund. Use the cancel link in your confirmation email.
- Hardware deposits (the Founder's Edition and every reward that says “refundable deposit”) are fully refundable until your kit ships.
- Membership and merch pledges are refundable until the reward is delivered or activated.
- Rewards tied to a stretch goal (for example Jardin Sense, Jardin Air, the Jardin Light Backer Edition and the Complete Jardin grow kit) are built only if their goal is reached. If it isn't, everything you paid for that reward is refunded in full.
- Salt Club nutrients ship only where the product is registered. If they can't reach you, you're refunded.
Refunds go back to the original payment method. Ask at hello@genetixbay.com; we aim to process them within [10 BUSINESS DAYS]. Your rights under consumer protection law where you live always apply on top of these. [COUNSEL: provincial prepayment and distance-contract rules, including Quebec and Ontario.]
Ship windows
Each tier shows its ship window. We follow the US Federal Trade Commission's Mail, Internet or Telephone Order Rule: if we can't ship in the window we promised, we'll tell you before it passes, give you a new date, and you can cancel for a full refund. If a reward has no window at all, we'll ship within 30 days of charging you or refund you.
Memberships activate at launch on 20 April 2027. Founding Members get closed-beta access before that.
Jardin hardware and Salt Club rewards ship to the US and Canada only, and software features follow the law in your state or province.
Open goal and stretch goals
Fund the Bay is flexible funding, not all-or-nothing. There's no single target that cancels the project if we miss it. The build continues at any amount, and the stretch goals show what each extra milestone pays for, in order. The meter counts reservations, not money received, which is why it can say exactly where we stand.
If a reward can't be delivered
We'd rather tell you bad news early than late. If we find we can't deliver a reward at all, we'll email you, explain why, and refund everything you paid for that reward. Because nothing is charged before checkout, a reward cancelled before then costs you nothing.
Please understand the risk: GenetixBay is a young company building new hardware, and money paid at checkout goes into building the rewards. Deposits are held [OWNER: say whether deposits are kept in a separate account until the kit ships]. If the company itself failed, refunds could be delayed or limited by insolvency law. Currency
Each site shows one currency: US dollars on genetixbay.com and Canadian dollars on genetixbay.ca. Your reservation is stored in the currency and amount you saw, and you'll be charged in that currency.
Canadian prices are marked “approx.” until we confirm them. Before checkout we'll show the final Canadian price; if it's higher than what you reserved, you can cancel for free. To add up the meter and the stretch goals, Canadian pledges are converted to US dollars at a fixed planning rate (US$1 = CA$1.37), not a live exchange rate.
Who can back
You must be of legal age where you live: 21+ in the US; 18+ in Alberta, 21+ in Quebec and 19+ in the rest of Canada. Anyone of legal age can be a Supporter or pick merch. Some tiers, such as the Founder's Edition Jardin and Breeder Founding Partner, are for the US and Canada only; the tier says so.
GenetixBay doesn't sell cannabis or seeds. Rewards are memberships, merch, grow hardware and archive sponsorships. “Adopt a Lost Line” funds the archive record, not seeds.
The backer wall and referrals
The display name you give appears on the public backer wall unless you choose Anonymous. We may show a name as Anonymous if it breaks the community guidelines. Your email is never shown.
When friends join or pledge with your link, you move up the waitlist. [COUNSEL: review the referral rewards (for example, free Founding Member spots for top referrers) under contest and promotion rules.]
Pearls that come with a reward are store credit with no cash value, under the Pearls rules.
Your data
We store your email, reward, amount, region and display name to manage your reservation, and we don't sell or share them. The privacy policy has the details.
