Open research means that GenetixBay tests growing and breeding claims in the open: protocols are published before trials start, members run the grows, data and lab results are shared, and verdicts are shown alongside the evidence. The aim is to replace forum arguments with numbers.

Questions come from the community and from house positions that deserve testing: [LED vs HPS](https://genetixbay.com/knowledge/glossary/led-vs-hps.md), tucking vs stripping leaves, hydro vs [living soil](https://genetixbay.com/knowledge/glossary/living-soil.md) taste, whether [defoliation](https://genetixbay.com/knowledge/glossary/defoliation.md) raises [cannabinoids](https://genetixbay.com/knowledge/glossary/cannabinoid.md), how individual cultivars respond to light hours. "Test your cultivar" is the GenetixBay way: run it, record it, share it. Results feed the evidence ladder and Mythbusters, and dated public records also serve preservation, since documented genetics and methods are harder to lock away.

## Don't confuse with

- **Peer-reviewed research**: open research is citizen science with controls; it complements academic studies and cites them, but does not replace them.
- **Anecdote**: one grow, uncontrolled. Open research needs matched comparisons and enough repeats.
