Mythbusters is the GenetixBay knowledge-base section where common growing claims are tested against evidence. It lists open [Bay Trials](https://genetixbay.com/knowledge/glossary/bay-trials.md) and verdict cards for finished ones, and links to the article that covers each topic in depth. See [Mythbusters](https://genetixbay.com/knowledge/mythbusters.md).

## In practice

Each entry states the claim, the current evidence label, the house position where there is one, and what a trial would need to settle it. Examples: pre-harvest [flushing](https://genetixbay.com/knowledge/glossary/flushing.md) (*Myth*, and actively harmful), 24-72 h of [darkness before harvest](https://genetixbay.com/knowledge/glossary/darkness-before-harvest.md) (*Myth*; the founder's 20-year standing offer of a 50-pack of seeds for a sound peer-reviewed study showing a benefit is unclaimed), [Cal-Mag](https://genetixbay.com/knowledge/glossary/cal-mag.md) being needed because of [LEDs](https://genetixbay.com/knowledge/glossary/led.md) (*Myth*), [late-flower bananas](https://genetixbay.com/knowledge/glossary/nanners.md) being normal (*Myth*), tuck vs strip [defoliation](https://genetixbay.com/knowledge/glossary/defoliation.md) (open). When a trial finishes, its card moves from "Open trials" to the verdicts, labelled Busted, Confirmed or Inconclusive.

## Don't confuse with

- **The evidence ladder**: the labelling system Mythbusters uses.
- **Opinion pieces**: house positions are labelled as such, with their evidence.
