# Hash rosin

[Rosin](https://genetixbay.com/knowledge/glossary/rosin.md) can be pressed from two kinds of starting material. Flower rosin is pressed directly from dried flower: simpler, but it carries more plant lipids, [chlorophyll](https://genetixbay.com/knowledge/glossary/chlorophyll.md) and other compounds from the plant tissue into the oil, and it usually has a lower yield per gram of resin present. Hash rosin is pressed from [hash](https://genetixbay.com/knowledge/glossary/hash.md), most often [ice water hash](https://genetixbay.com/knowledge/glossary/bubble-hash.md) or [dry sift](https://genetixbay.com/knowledge/glossary/kief.md), which has already had most plant matter removed. ## In practice

Among solventless makers, hash rosin is widely considered the higher-grade product: cleaner, more consistent texture and better flavour. Flower rosin remains popular with home consumers because it needs only the flower. In both cases the outcome depends mainly on the starting material: rosin can't improve poor hash or poorly grown flower. GenetixBay defines the products only and gives no pressing settings.
