# Bay Lines

Bay Lines is the community breeding programme on GenetixBay. Members nominate keepers from their documented grows; selected keepers and [Stud Book](https://genetixbay.com/knowledge/glossary/stud-book.md) males become parents, and the resulting lines are tester-grown, documented and released with complete [GB-ID](https://genetixbay.com/knowledge/glossary/gb-id.md) records.

## In practice

A member's keeper, with a good journal, is nominated; if it is picked as a Bay Lines parent the member receives Wild Pearls and a permanent credit on the line record. Each line publishes its tester data, including [germination](https://genetixbay.com/knowledge/glossary/germination.md), [sex ratio](https://genetixbay.com/knowledge/glossary/sex-ratio.md) and [herm rate](https://genetixbay.com/knowledge/glossary/herm-threshold.md). A line must pass a 10-plant screening grow with zero [herms](https://genetixbay.com/knowledge/glossary/hermaphrodite.md) to qualify, and loses its place if pooled community reports show a herm rate above 2% (see [herm threshold](https://genetixbay.com/knowledge/glossary/herm-threshold.md)). Seed is handled only through licensed channels where the law requires it.

The aim is the opposite of chucking: chosen parents, real numbers grown out, open records, and credit to the people who found the plants.

## Don't confuse with

- **Seed Club**: the licensed partner programme through which some seed reaches members.
- **Hype drops**: Bay Lines are released on evidence, not countdowns.
